Hiking

Walking is one of the healthiest movements and also an ideal way to fully enjoy nature. The Canary Islands are perfect for this activity. On Gran Canaria you will find countless interesting trails of varying difficulty and length.
Be inspired by the following examples and enjoy your holiday with healthy exercise in many of these beautiful places that the island offers.

Tenteniguada – Caldera de Los Marteles

Los Marteles is a beautiful natural reserve in the interior of the island of Gran Canaria, more precisely in Valsequillo. Through the Marteles there is a circular trail reaching a medium level of difficulty with a length of less than 7.5 km. The nature of this reserve has been created by volcanic eruptions in conjunction with groundwater, which has created interesting rock formations. There is also a traditional cheese factory in this area.

Caldera de Bandama

Another interesting formation, created by explosions of hot groundwater, is called Caldera Bandama. Diameter of this caldera reaches 1000 m, depth is 216 m and height 574 m. Also nearby is the cave Cueva de los Canarios. The 3 km trail leads through Cornical, where you can enjoy beautiful views and continues through Casas de Fondo, Bodegas Caves, El Culatón Pond and Tres Piedras Cross. The difficulty level of the route is medium with a slope of 18%.

Tamadaba-Bajada de Faneque

One of the best preserved typical pine forests can be found in the Tamadaba area between canyons, mountains, and precipices. On this route you will find colonies of cacti "tabaibales" and remote villages (eg El Risco, Guayedra Valley). The starting point is the forest house Tamadaba, followed by the Faneque cliff. The total length of the route is 4 km with easy difficulty.

Roque Nublo

This beautiful volcanic ravine rises 80 m above its base and 1813 m above sea level. The whole environment is a protected landscape area. The gorge can be approached by car or motorbike, where you are offered a really beautiful ride on local hairpin bends with incredible views. If you love longer hikes, you can also walk on foot. By car you can reach the parking lot at Roque Nublo and then walk about 1.5 km to the gorge.
